what jesus might have said

What Jesus might have said:
Sink or swim on your own, you buzzard vampires,
drinking my blood and eating my flesh!
Quit wearing my hand-me-downs,
weave your own no-seamed robe!
Stop snacking on your everlasting supper,
jump up on your own cross!
Claim your own sunship in the cosmos,
hope no one builds a religion around your ass!
Walk around the walls you’ve built
and horn blow those suckers down!
Let’s go! Get with it! If you want to follow me,
I went that ‘away!

  1. I can almost hear him saying it!!!
Just yesterday I was talking with Francis about the old movie "The Life of Brian" which had this same message...HB

  2. "He left us his shoe!" "Worship the shoe!!"
It's sad how "Follow Me" got so messed up...

  3. "Not the shoe, you infidel, follow the Gourd! The Holy Gourd of Jerusalem!"

Same message indeed, Harlan and bwnn.

I'm with the three of you. I think Jesus would boldly announce today, "Don't worship me!!!"

Thanks for the reminder to horn blow down the walls I've built!

I like the way Gautama B said it, "Be a light unto yourself." Jesus was surely that!

I wonder why the religionists spend so much time studying the same missionary journeys and the same Bible stories over and over and over again. I love the little Brethren church I attend. When I started we had this wonderful Sunday School teacher who brought the messages into our daily lives, so we could taste and feel the relevance--and we laughed a lot. Since she left for the Peace Corps we've had the old stuff raked over and over again. So, I am being "a light unto myself" and enjoy the challenge and insight of "A Course in Miracles" while loving the dear Brethren folks at church. It's all good. Nothing to cling to, resist or ignore" except those tiresome Sunday School lessons. No body's perfect...

  5. People fall back on what they are taught and what books and others say instead of seeking for themselves. It's safer. No thinking, no experiencing involved. The conscience is salved temporarily until the new week begins and a new round of missing the mark begins. The suffering will continue until the inflicter/victim can't take it any more. Then a choice must be made on how the suffering is to end.
