Just as water assumes the form of its container, so does the comprehension of Jesus assume the form of the comprehender. Thus you have the phenomenon of a Jesus who carries a gun and votes Republican.
More like the corruption of the image of a nonviolent man to an armed violent one. The correct imagery would be Jesus in Roman armor with a gladius in his hand. The man who restored the severed ear is now the man who severed it. How insane!
