Decades ago I found that arising at 4 a.m., sitting quietly and going to ashes, all agenda and personification extinguished, allowed an arising anew, a flaming of energy moving into the day.
"Sitting quietly"... Remember the longest scene in movie history? When "The Good" , "The Bad", and "The Ugly" faced off in the grave yard? For me it's kind of like that... Id and Ego square off while spirit watches... Then when they have had at it a while, Spirit steps in a "touches" both their hips to quite them down and begins to teach them a more "excellent" way. Showing through love the error of their ways... Teaching them that "I AM" doesn't stop with them... The "I AM" is "All Inclusive"...
A number of times over the years I have attended retreats at an area Jesuit facility. The most powerful part of the time there is that you spend 72 hours in silence.
I learned somethings about the value of silence. One was that in order to open my connection with the Source, I had to let my thoughts all fall away. In the peace of that silence, I became "properly disposed" to recognize my relationship with all that is.
Making time each day to tend to that connection suddenly changes the way the world looks to me. I see the light shining underneath the impermanence more easily and more frequently.
