r/evolution

...the ongoing battle since my childhood...the unwillingness to knuckle down (knuckles dragging on the ground) to the dogma of the social norm...the hatred of martin luther king...and now the hatred and fear of obama...the subtle and not so subtle racism...the stuffing of jesus into a theological coffin...the exclusion of all seen as different (not white, not christian, not of the born again)...dear lord, will i ever make peace with that? i think not...whatever is to be done?...let time go by...let the dead bury the dead...love and live from the heart...rise up! rise up! to where all angels dwell...merge with those beyond all human bound...

Perhaps what is behind all of this JUDGEMENT of "other" or "different" is actually a secret loathing of "self"? I believe (the religious) Jesus spoke often of the judgmental Jewish leadership who allegedly had him arrested and crucified and said they were white washed tombs! (carla)

  2. Carla, thank you for your comment. Yes, and one's own consciousness contains all the characters you describe. My urge now is to leave behind all such characters within my own being and move on.

    Shelley puts it this way:
"The rocks are cloven, and through the purple night
I see cars drawn by rainbow-winged steeds
Which trample the dim winds: in each there stands
A wild-eyed charioteer urging their flight.
Some look behind, as fiends pursued them there,
And yet I see no shapes but the keen stars:
Others with burning eyes, lean forth, and drink
With eager lips the wind of their own speed,
As if the thing they loved fled on before,
And now, even now, they clasped it. Their bright locks
Stream like a comet's flashing hair: they all
    Sweep onward." (Prometheus Unbound)

Let us be like the second charioteer and (paraphrasing Shelley) sweep onward as if the thing we love flees on before and even now we clasp it.
